Mission Statement
Blind Beggar Press exists to publish, distribute, promote and market literary, artistic and educational work by People of Colour. This includes books, pamphlets, greeting cards, posters, audio and video tapes. As part of a community education program, Blind Beggar Press sponsors and promotes literary readings, artistic and photographic exhibits, mixed media events and performances for community groups, schools, colleges and other places deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors. |
Goals and Objectives
- To provide professional guidance and direction to emerging writers and artists in the areas of publishing, technique, style, copyrighting, printing and incorporation.
- To develop workshops, lectures, demonstrations, technical guidance and assistance with public relations.
- To provide vehicles and occasion for writers and artists to present their work in quality publications and performances
- To accelerate the careers of writers and artists and promote them to the widest possible audiences.
- To provide an organization where writers and artists can share ideas, visions and develop a support network.
- To produce quality work in publications that speak to the needs, visions and concerns of People of Colour.
Going Forward
The Company looks forward to having even more impact on the communities it serves through the development of relevant, entertaining and educational projects and products. BLIND BEGGAR PRESS also expects to become a significant force in publishing by People of Colour in the United States and internationally. We have a commitment to our communities and provide not only publishing services, but readings, workshops and free consultations to writers and artists. All of these activities will be expanded upon and enhanced in an effort to continue providing quality publications and services to as wide an audience as possible.
